ok. this is legit. however there are some factors you should account for, aluminum bat, pitching machine, indoor stadium. they may not seem too big but after 3 round off that machine you have it timed. with his strength and ability im not suprised he hit a ball 500 ft. mickey mantel in the early 20th cent did it with wood and guys throwing maybe 80mph. so big fucking jack, just not 100% taken back due to the situation.

@SonnyFB42 That wasn't for everyone lol, I was taking into account that he knew nothing about gloves, therefore that he was either young, or not on a very competitive team. I was taught, and always teach third baseman to use a slightly bigger glove when they begin playing. On a high school/college level, you'd obviously want to go a lot smaller to 12 inches or less because of the speed of the runners on that level.

I also happen to pitch a drop ball, a curve ball and, while I don't pitch a slider, my pitching coach can. And, what you're saying about them going faster, well, the video already proved that wrong by breaking down the milliseconds. However, I agree they should have had a softball player against a baseball pitcher.

this is a terrible test. #1 the baseball had to do some of the damage to the plate. if the softball were not thrown at the plate after several 95 mph baseballs it would ot have brokenb the plate. #2 there was no softball player trying to hit a baseball. i garantee they would not have been succesful #3like the baseball player said "its different" HE DID NOT SAY THAT IT IS HARDER.

This is not true for a few reasons: # 1-there was no softball player trying to hit a baseball. i garantee that they would have done just as bad as the baseball player #2-the baseball player throwing the baseball at the plate at 95 mph would definatly have contributed to her breaking the plate on the first pitch. her 70 mph pitch would not have broken the plate if it were the first pitch thrown #3-like the baseball player said "ITS DIFFERENT" he did not say that this is harder.

To the person below me: A softball can rise/curve/drop/screw by changing the spin on the ball...just like in baseball. Not all pitches have downspin. and by putting the right spin and getting the right angles with your body as a pitcher, a softball can actually rise. And the smaller field gives players less time to react and allows for the short game.

this is total bull shit absolute crap 1) they need to do it the other way have the soft ball hitter try to hit a curve ball. baseball is way harder (I've played both) it's not just fastballs they sink drop slide and go faster 2) the baseball players they used weren't the best of the best and the soft ballers were 3) baseball bats are wood and the fences, indfield are way farther out.4) Any dumbass would no that softballs don really rise because they have downspin. I changed my stance; arms, elbows lower and tucked in, L and V shape holding the bat, fingers loose, focus and BAM! I'm hitting now better than ever before. The first image of Orel Hershiser's shoulder shimmy is so jarring, it's like acid kicking in when you didn't know you took acid. He, Bob Welch, Jerry Reuss, Mariano Duncan, and Pedro Guerrero all had sub-par seasons in 1986. The Dodgers themselves were 73-89, their worst record since 1967. You can't compare this to the Super Bowl Shuffle. How did this happen? Why does Orel Hershiser make that face at 1:06, 1:12, and 1:24? There was a choreographer. Most of the force of a bat comes from the leverage of the arms. If the bat is spinning in mid air, it won't actually do much because the arms aren't there to maintain leverage. Instead of the shoulders being the fulcrum point, the gravitational center of the bat ends up being the fulcrum. That results in a serious loss in power imparted onto the ball. So really, you'd get better results from bunting.

@sming01 actually.. the pitcher.. is on defense.. he throws the ball. the offense hits it, misses it, lets it go, etc. theres 4 scenarios: 1) the ball is hit and goes into play or is fouled out. who made the initial force? the defense. 2) the ball is missed a total of 3 times in the batting sequence. who made the initial force? the defense. 3) the ball is not swung at. who made the initial force? defense AND FINALLY 4) the batter is walked due to 4 balls. who made the initial force? .. the def.
