Plus the rider is mediocre at best. Put Ben Spies on a race prepped gixxer (modified just to the degree of the car, with slicks, tweaked suspension and worked motor) and watch him lap your ass like you are chained to the ground.

Things to note. - The suspension of the bike was not altered from the soft as shit factory settings, while the car's was. - The bike was on road tires while the car was on slicks. -The cars motor is heavily modified while the bike was bone stock to the degree that it still had the shitty stock exhaust. - the 2009 suzuki gsxr1000, with road tires and stock motor, has lapped tracks faster than some fully prepped race bikes from 2007. In race form it is untouchable. - Cars suck.

ya, I dont ride bikes(motorbikes at least) I used to do downhill biking on full suspension bikes and if you dont have the suspension tuned to your weight and riding conditions its going to dramatically decrease your skills as a rider. I can see how this would dramatically effect the bikes performance and these records are useless imo.

i know its just a fact, the bike only has minimal wings offering minimul increase in downforce and traction, where as the car has much better downforce and grip, but the bike has the advantage in the straight as its much lighter but in a race round most tracks the car would win! i want a Westfield!

I'd like to see this with a 1098r definately. I rekon if the 999 was the R model then it would have bested the gixxer. Goes to show with all that extra power and light weight, he could only get 10th of a second difference. The lap time difference between the gsxr1000 and the standard 999 is very small. I expect your all agree, I would like to see valentino rossi on the bikes and with suspension set for him. Who rekons he could beat the car ? Bring it on fifth gear. lol

no argument on tiff and jason. respect for both. she? having a father and a grandfather both racers, doesn't make her a racer. indeed she does have a C ntl licence and she is an instructor, athough that still doesn't make her a good driver. competitive race wins makes a good driver. her results? how well would i do? not much but, with eight national karing titles, 3 national hillclimb titles, few victories in european races, a bit better? she might be cute to some, but that's all. period.

It then had to be rebuilt with a new chassis supplied by westfield with the old chassis number. The car has since been sold to someone in Germany. Enjoy the vid

No worries at all. The thing is to do is to work out what you want the car for, set a budget, and then go and drive as many of each type as you can. Can't comment on the XTR - never had the opportunity sadly. One final thought though - the build quality on Caterhams is waaaay better - which must be in part why they're so much more expensive.

The straight answer is "it depends". I've had my Westfield for 17 years, so it's been developed for my preference - the combinations of spring/ damper types and rates, wheel size and tyre type and engine are virtually infinite. I've driven a mate's Caterham X-flow and his newer R300 on tracks and the road, and I'd take my Westfield every time - the R300 is incredibly fast, but a real handful, and you have to rev the nuts off it and be changing gear constantly. Drive both, then decide!

ON the Highway stretches he was probably barely going at 85Km/h and that was just to over take the vehicles. The stretches in the narrower roads were not reckless or creating any more of a danger than any normal driver would. Hi, if you head to ths site, click on profiles then wr1c there's an in depth feature on the build of the car. It's naturally aspirated, the whoosh/whirr is the Keihin flatslide carbs (52mm) sitting on the tuned R1 engine. It was about 190bhp and weighed 400kg (we had to ballast up for Barbados). Most of the modifications for rallying where just strengthening up the chassis and suspension :)

I've looked at your site, but can't really seem to find any info on this car. It sounds like the Hayabusa engined Westfield, but it'd be fun to know what modifications have been done for rally duty. Also, is the car turbocharged? I sometimes hear something that sounds like a turbo spool when you get on the throttle and a blowoff when you shift. Anyway, cool videos, and it looks like great fun :)

What a car... The Westfield Megabusa hit 220kph, so I think that when you hear it at the rev limiter on the straight it is already at that speed. What is stunning about this car is how soon it can get you to the top speed: you see it already in the first part of the track. And, it seems, the lap was very clean: almost no tire squeeling, no oversteering or understeering at all. Are you (or the driver) italian? The Busa motor leans to the left inside the engine bay, due to the way they are mounted in the bikes. Having the driver sit on the right hand side(opposite that in the vidoe) evens out the weight distribution. Its incredible that such an inexpensive car (less than 20,000 pounds, or $35,000) can be so fast. I mean, if pushed hard it would be close to a GT3 RS.

well theres scope to go quicker,car is flat out in a few places,and the driver,is being very wise by takig it easier,in place,plus very very lucky with the weather,as it can be sunny one side,and damp the other,i have a westfield with a full race crossflow,and the bike engines make mine look slow,not as quick off the line,but they make the hairs on the back of your neckstand up..you should try a fireblade engine one though to a busa,it feels a nicer car,much nicer balance...
